A short, initially steep, walk to one of the best views across the entire southern lakes.
Romans in Ravenglass was a partnership project between the Lake District National Park Authority, Muncaster Parish Council and the Muncaster Estate. York Archaeological Trust supervised the archaeological investigation. Minerva Heritage Ltd oversaw the outreach and interpretation programme. Tullie House Museum and Art Gallery kindly loaned Roman artefacts for the on-site and in-school sessions. The Portable Antiquities Scheme’s Finds Liaison Officers for the North West kindly attended some of the open days to provide finds-identification workshops.

This level route takes you along the wooded shoreline of Brothers Water, past Hartsop Hall, to the campsite at Sykeside.
A linear walk into one of Lakeland's most beautiful valleys.
These routes are in fact Unclassified County Roads (UCR) and as such pedestrians, horse riders, bicycles and motor vehicles can use them. The routes were originally well-built stone roads that served agricultural and quarrying activities and, as such, forms part of the historic heritage of the area.
