Travel around Derwentwater and Keswick

Nearest train

The nearest train station is Penrith - 17 miles east of Keswick. There is an hourly bus service between there and Keswick.

Local buses

From Keswick there are a great range of regular bus services:

  • 555 to Grasmere, Windermere and Kendal
  • X4 X5 to Cockermouth, Workington, Penrith
  • 78 to Borrowdale valley, open top in summer
  • 77 77A to Honister and Buttermere - probably the most scenic journey in England
  • 554 to Carlisle
  • 77 77A to Honister… seasonal service, Easter to October

Keswick bus station

Stagecoach buses arrive and depart from outside Booths supermarket off Tithebarn Street.

Boat launches

On Derwentwater, the Keswick Launch service allows you to explore the lake. You can either stay on the boat for a 50 minute cruise or hop on and off to walk between lauch stops. Find out more at Keswick Launch.
