Filming permissions

The beautiful scenery of the Lake District appears in countless films and TV series.

Filming permissions in the Lake District

When filming in the Lake District you must make sure you have the necessary permissions. If you are wanting to film on public land you need to get permission from the authority that is responsible for that land. If you are wanting to film on the public highways you need to get permission from Westmorland and Furness and/or Cumberland councils. If you are wanting to film on private land you need to get permission from the landowner.

Filming? We can help!

Would you like to film on Lake District National Park property? We own woodlands, islands, lakeshores, fells, farms and more.

The exact amount we will charge for this service depends on your application. Permissions will be subject to terms and conditions in a licence.

If the purpose of your filming is for news content please contact the communications team on comms@lakedistrict.gov.uk
