From waterfalls to Wainwright – there’s a new way to explore Ullswater

Communities and businesses around the Lake District’s Ullswater Valley are celebrating the launch of a brand new walking route – the Ullswater Way - around what many believe to be England’s most beautiful lake. The new, 20-mile walking route connects the spectacular scenery along the shores of Ullswater and surrounding mountains, with the picturesque villages and attractions, meaning visitors can enjoy even more of this special corner of the Lake District.

Half of Keswick Railway Path Reopens

Keswick visitors and locals joined Town Crier, Bob Bryden, today (18 Mar) to celebrate the reopening of the raised boardwalk section of the Railway Path, ahead of the busy Easter period.

The English Lake District has become the UK’s latest nomination for World Heritage site status following confirmation of the bid being received by UNESCO, the United Nations’ cultural agency.

Boat Safety Scheme - media statement

At today’s Authority meeting the Lake District National Park decided not to adopt the Boat Safety Scheme (BSS) following the Marine Accident Investigation Board’s (MAIB) recommendation, as the scheme is not an effective comprehensive method of addressing the important issue of boat safety.
