Esthwaite Way

Donate to the Esthwaite Way project

The historic links between Hawkshead and Near Sawrey are strong, through trade in sheep and more recently as the home and local village enjoyed by Beatrix Potter. The road which was once travelled by shepherds and famous authors is now busy with traffic and so the National Park along with partner organisations and local land owners are supporting the local community in creating a traffic free route to once more provide a car free route between these two popular destinations.

We have currently raised £60,000 of the £160,000 we need to complete the project. With your help and support we can build a link that once more can be enjoyed by everyone, free from the worries of sharing with cars leaving everyone free to enjoy the landscape that inspired one of the world’s favourite authors.
