Brockhole - The Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Windermere has the ideal mix of activities on site:

  • a range of learning sessions
  • exhibition and film about the Lake District National Park
  • stunning gardens and grounds providing the ideal outdoor learning environment
  • adventure playground, great for letting off steam at lunch time or after a long journey
  • opportunities for boat trips, watersports sessions, orienteering and high rope course challenges

Combine the free activities on site with a tutored learning session. Choose from:

D.I.Y. Day

Discover more about the National Park by visiting the exhibition and exploring the grounds using trails, scavenger hunts and the bird hide. Add in the adventure playground and the shop and you have a full day of enjoyable learning activities, free of charge.

For Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 children there is also the Play and Learn room with indoor climbing wall, soft play and creativity space.

Learning Core

If you would like a short introduction to the National Park, refreshments on arrival and a reserved undercover lunch space, then the Learning Core offers you this support for a small charge - Learning Core
