The Lake District is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful parts of the UK with its glorious countryside and iconic landmarks which draws holiday makers from around the country and beyond.
The growing popularity of the staycations in the region on the back of Brexit in particular has resulted in an influx of accommodation providers including some of the country’s major players who are keen to grab a slice of this ever expanding market.
We take a look at some of the best accommodation options which are available to you for your next break in the Lakes.
One of the latest to plant their flag in the region is holiday resort operator Darwin Escapes who launched the brand new Keswick Reach Lodge Retreat in December last year. This fabulous resort offers holiday makers the chance to take advantage of high-tech log cabin style holiday lodges in glorious countryside surroundings.
The aim of the company was to completely revolutionise the Lake District holiday experience, with many of these lodges even offer guests the chance to enjoy their own hot tub facilities on the outdoor decking areas provided.
One of the stand out features of this resort however are the on-site facilities which includes the mouth-watering Copper Fells Restaurant as well as a private spa where guests can book themselves in for a range of treatments and therapies. This does come at an additional fee, but one thing which doesn’t is the spa pool, steam room and panoramic sauna which offers spectacular views of the surrounding region.
A slightly more traditional option are hotels, of which there are many in Lake District. Undoubtedly one of the stand-out options in this category is the Laura Ashley Belsfield Hotel which sits centrally in beautiful Bowness on the East Shores of Lake Windermere.
The bedrooms have to be seen to be believed, with chic styling as you would expect with any hotel which is associated with the Laura Ashley brand. A plethora of room styles are available including those with a garden view and also family sized accommodation. The Belsfield is also a romance hotspot, offering rooms with four poster beds and a range of other luxuries which makes it a popular honeymoon choice.
The hotel itself is set upon six acres of glorious landscaped gardens and has its own Restaurant which serves some of the finest cuisine in the village.
Holiday cottages are an ever popular option in the Lake District and the Appleby Castle range is certainly one to consider if you are looking at this style of accommodation.
Situated in the 12th century Appleby Castle inner bailey, there are three holiday cottages available each of which retains stunning period features without sacrificing the need to offer a range of modern luxuries including complementary Wi-Fi.
The cottages can sleep up to six people and guests are welcome to take advantage of the facilities inside the castle itself which includes a restaurant and bar. Each cottage was recently renovated to bring it up to the latest standards; ensuring that the interiors are more than a match for the aesthetics.
Something a little more off the beat and track is the Lake District Love Shack which was designed in 2009 by acclaimed architects Sutherland Hussey to offer guests a truly unique accommodation option. This award winning guest house offers unrivalled views of Lake Windermere from the elevated decking area as well as a wide range of high end luxuries inside. It has been described by The Guardian newspaper as being “one of the best cabins in the world”.
Sleeping two people, as the name suggests this is the perfect romantic hideaway with the interior décor being as chic as the exterior architecture suggests it is going to be, featuring an eclectic range of furnishings which would not be out of place in a design museum.
Technology lovers also won’t be short changed, with the shack featuring Sky TV and an iPod docking station. It really has something for everyone, even offering a detached garden studio featuring a record player and retro vinyl collection.
