The path,  badly damaged by Storm Desmond in December 2015, has recently been restored and made more resilient by the R2R team. The work carried out includes:

  • Replacing the existing drainage with larger capacity pipes.
  • Relaying 200m of footpath.
  • Repairing and raising 40m of boardwalk.

Caldbeck riverside path restored

Caldbeck is a picturesque village nestled on the edge of the Lake District providing a gateway to the Northern Fells. It is a vibrant place in which bustling local businesses offer a warm welcome to visitors and locals.

Storm Desmond caused significant damage locally, affecting several popular routes. One such riverside path was recently restored by the R2R team, who:

  • rebuilt a section of revetment wall;
  • re-profiled the river bank with rock armour; and
  • excavated and relaid 130m of footpath.
