Partnership’s Management Plan 2020-2026

This is a joint Management Plan for the Lake District – reflecting its position as a National Park and a World Heritage Site. Adopted on 20 October 2021, it has been prepared by the 22 organisations in the Lake District National Park Partnership and adopted by the Lake District National Park Authority.

Updating the Partnership's Plan for the Lake District

Over the last year, the Lake District National Park Partnership has been working together to draft a new Partnership Plan for the National Park and World Heritage Site. Once finalised in 2026, this Plan will guide the management of the Lake District for the five years from 2026 to 2031. Our latest public consultation on the draft plan ran until 30 January 2026.

Made of 24 Partners, and developing the Partnership Plan, the Partnership works together in the best interest of the Lake District National Park and English Lake District World Heritage Site, its environment, communities, economy and visitors.

Protected landscapes targets and outcomes framework

The Government have set ambitious outcomes for all protected landscapes, including the Lake District National Park, to contribute towards goals from the Environmental Improvement Plan 2023.
