About Brockhole on Windermere

Brockhole on Windermere is the main Lake District National Park Visitor Centre. Set on the shores of Windermere, the site includes a beautiful Arts and Crafts House (now the main visitor centre) surrounded by 30 acres of stunning listed gardens.
We attract over 300,000 visitors a year to enjoy a wide range of activities and events.

We are a major family activity attraction in the main holiday periods, but welcome a much wider demographic of visitor throughout the year to our restaurant, shop, exhibitions and gardens.

We host a series of major events, including the Great North Swim (30,000 people over 3 days) and our own major family Halloween Experience (10,000 people over 13 days) with further events planned for the future.

We are looking for a new, ambitious and enthusiastic key team member to help us create and deliver a destination shopping. Our shop has developed a lot over the past 3 years and we have exciting plans for the future.

Reporting to the Shop and Information Manager, you will help supervise and deliver Brockhole’s retail offer. You will assist the Shop & Information Manager to develop new product lines and visual merchandising to appeal to a new target market for Brockhole.
You will help recruit and supervise seasonal staff and ensure a consistency of training and service throughout the year.

This role will include weekend and school holiday working and will be offered on an annualised hours basis, working to an average of 37hrs a week. We foresee that there will be some times of year when your time input will need to be greater than others, to fit with the seasonal nature of our work, visitor numbers and scheduled activity programme, so you will be working more hours in the summer months than in the winter.

This role would suit someone who can be self-determined and self-motivated but who also knows how to, and enjoys, working as part of a wider team. You will bring existing knowledge, experience and enthusiasm for the role and Brockhole, but also you will also want to develop and learn – and this role is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to develop both their knowledge and experience in retail.
