ICT Support Technician

Salary: £23,143 - £26,459 per annum

Full time, 2 Year fixed term contract (with possible extension)

About Us

The Lake District National Park Authority looks after this unique corner of England, encouraging people to enjoy and understand its beauty and helping those who live and work here. Our staff include rangers and field workers, advisers at our visitor centres, planners and ecologists.

The ICT service is looking for an ICT Support Technician to offer technical support to our staff and members. You'll have good technical knowledge and experience on a variety of systems including Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Windows 10 and networks. Experience of VOIP telephony would also be useful, but we can train you.

You'll be a clear communicator as you will be delivering assistance to staff both in person and using remote assistance, prioritising issues and escalating where necessary. Other tasks will include monitoring systems including backups, compiling monthly performance reports and planning and delivering office moves and relocations as needed.

What’s it like to work here?

The ICT service is comprised of a team of five including GIS staff, Systems Developer and Database developer managed by the ICT Service Manager. The team works closely together, and you will be dealing with everyone as a first line of support on the helpdesk.

You will be supporting staff who are working in the field, from home or on sites such as our visitor centre at Brockhole on Windermere and will be provided with a laptop to enable you to access our secure IT network from any site. You’ll also need a full driving licence as you will need to visit remote sites.

The role

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:
* Lead contact on the helpdesk – providing support to users as required and meeting the helpdesk targets
* Managing and monitoring system updates
* Providing ICT induction to new staff, frequently at their main site of work
* Site visits to install new systems, troubleshoot or otherwise maintain
* Compiling monthly helpdesk performance indicators
* Work on projects as required

About you

This opportunity would suit someone who can demonstrate experience in the ICT systems listed above with good communication skills and is a natural problem solver. You will be able to prioritise your own work and communicate with staff in a clear manner, avoiding jargon.

Training in specific systems will be given but an understanding of underlying technology is required.
