This is a fantastic opportunity to work at one of the most beautiful locations in the country, in a thriving, varied and fast growing catering business, with a chance to help shape the exciting future of this historic site and to support the wider Lake District National Park.

Brockhole is the main Lake District Visitor Centre on the shores of Lake Windermere, and includes Brockhole House, a great Arts and Crafts house set in 30 acres of stunning Thomas Mawson designed listed gardens. The house and site are home to multiple cafés, a restaurant, shop, an art gallery, meeting rooms and a thriving adventure activity centre.

We are in the middle of a considerable development period, significantly improving our offer in both house and grounds (including the catering offer), and we are looking for an experienced and ambitious Catering Manager to join the management team and to help lead on further development and improvements, and to continue to deliver exceptional food and customer service across all of our outlets.

With the Lake District now a designated World Heritage Site, this is a great time to join us, and an outstanding opportunity to make a significant contribution to Brockhole, currently visited by over 300,000 people per year.

The Gaddum restaurant opened its doors in April 2018 and has quickly established itself as one of the most beautiful settings for lunch and afternoon teas in the Lake District. Our reputation for fantastic food and spectacular Afternoon Teas has more than matched the setting, with wall to wall 5 star reviews and many describing them as the best in the Lake District.

The main café at Brockhole House has just been fitted out with a new purpose designed counter and service area, and is due for a full refurbishment later this year. A brand new grab and go café was constructed in the grounds last year and has taken over £150k since it opened, and we are now planning on developing this area further to enhance the offer.

The Gaddum can deliver to up to 60 covers, the café 80 + covers with a further 40 outside, on our stunning sun terrace overlooking the Lake. On sunny holidays every outlet is packed, and we need now to develop an offer that can both maximise the returns on these busy days and that also appeals all year round to all visitors and locals alike.

Your working week will normally be 5 days over 7 which may include either a Saturday or Sunday or both, but extra days may be required during busy periods. Our busiest times will be during school holidays.

In return we can offer you a very competitive salary and generous benefits package which will be discussed on application. For the majority of the year you will not need to work in the evenings and we are closed on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, so there are many home/work balance benefits.

If you have a passion for, and know how to deliver, great cafés, fantastic restaurants, exceptional food and customer service, and can motivate teams to do the same, then we want to hear from you. If you want a job that will excite and challenge you, and offers you the opportunity to make a difference through knowledge, ambition and hard work, then this might well be the role for you.
