Catering Assistant (Brockhole)

Salary: £20, 266 - £20,526 (plus pending pay award)

We’re looking for a full time Catering Assistant to join our diverse and friendly team to deliver excellent customer service to our visitors to our café and on-site outlets at Brockhole. This is a year-round, permanent position which gives you the opportunity to learn new skills, including supporting our seasonal casual staff all whilst enjoying our package of employee benefits and an amazing p[lace to work.

About us

Brockhole on Windermere is located between Windermere and Ambleside on the shores of Lake Windermere in the heart of the Lake District National Park.  We are a not-for-profit attraction run by the Lake District National Park Authority. All profits go towards keeping it special for future generations.

What’s it like to work here?

The Catering team work across Brockhole Café and the takeaway outlets, The Garden Shed and Lakeshore Café. You’ll be working at all these locations, so there’ll be plenty of variety in your day. We are popular with families and groups who have been on activities such as Tree Top Treks, or paddleboarding looking for quality lunches and cakes.

Our cafes and outlets close at about 5.30pm in the summer and earlier in the winter. Whatsmore, there’ll be no split shifts, so you can enjoy evenings!

The role

Reporting to the Cafes Manager and Deputy Cafes Manager, your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • provide excellent customer service and ensuring that cafes are kept tidy and presentable during opening hours
  • making and serving hot drinks and snacks
  • drink and food running
  • operating the cash register
  • packaging and labelling our home made sandwiches
  • maintaining stock levels within the café and outlets
  • scooping ice creams if at one of the outlets

About you

This opportunity would suit someone who’s a team player and enjoys working in busy environments while providing excellent customer service. You don’t need to have previous experience, as we will provide full training and support, but you do need to want to learn, be willing to work hard and to serve customers with enthusiasm and a smile.
