Overview for Saturday


A showery northwesterly will cover the park with the brightest conditions with fewest showers over the northeast.

Hazards


Persistent extensive hill fog: Medium risk - An area of persistent rain expected over the southwest this accompanied by extensive hill fog.
Heavy persistent rain: Medium risk - An area of persistent rain expected over the southwest this possibly turning heavy at times.

Forecast for Saturday


Weather:

A mixture of bright or sunny intervals and a scattering of showers these merging into a more prolonged spell of rain for the southwest of the park during the afternoon. Across Blencathra and around Ullswater it will be drier with the best of the sunshine.

Visibility:

Poor or very poor visibilities at times in the more prolonged rain over the southwest of the park with visibilities down to around 100 metres or less making navigation a little challenging. Further east around Ullswater and Blencathra visibilities will be good with hills at middle to far distance easily seen.

Hill Fog:

Cloud will be broken with bases closer to 750 metres. Across the southwest of the park the cloud will become extensive at around 600 metres.

Westerly 20 to 30mph

Valleys/Low level: Plus 9 Celsius rising to 19 Celsius
At 900m: Plus 7 Celsius
Freezing level: Well above the summits

Dawn - 0900: Sunny intervals. 30% chance of rain
0900 - 1200: Sunny intervals. 50% chance of rain
1200 - 1500: Light rain showers. 60% chance of rain
1500 - Dusk: Heavy Rain. 60% chance of rain

Forecast for Sunday


Weather:

The wind will have become northerly which will bring a scattering of showers down across the Northwest of the park more especially Skiddaw and Blencathra. To the south of this and around Windermere in particular it will be a mainly dry day with some good sunny spells.

Visibility:

Generally good to excellent with good clarity to the air giving the chance of some good panoramic views especially across the southeast of the area.

Hill Fog:

Nil generally but patches at 600 metres generally in association with any showers.

Maximum winds above 500m:

Northerly 15 to 20mph

Temperature:

Valleys/Low level: Plus 10 Celsius rising to 19 Celsius
At 900m: Plus 8 Celsius
Freezing level: Above summits

Monday


Mainly dry with bright or sunny spells the best of these over the south. Risk of odd light shower over Skiddaw.

Tuesday


A cloudy day with outbreaks of rain spreading from the west this accompanied by strong to gale force winds.

Wednesday


Sunny intervals and a few showers these driven along on strong to gale force northwesterly winds. The best conditions will be around Windermere.
