Walks to Inspire, the Lake District National Park’s guided walks and navigation programme is delivered entirely by volunteers. This fantastic bunch of people with a passion for the Lake District guide more than 2,500 people in the valleys and on the fells every year, sharing their incredible local knowledge along the way.
These volunteers are experienced fell walkers with a huge range of experience as mountain leaders, activity coordinators and teachers. They all have one thing in common, they live and breathe the Lake District. In addition to the wealth of experience they bring with them, all our guided walk and navigation leaders go through a comprehensive training programme.
Every penny paid towards the price of a ticket goes towards providing our volunteers with the very best training and support as well as the work involved in designing, risk assessing and testing more than 200 routes each year and making sure every single volunteer guided walk and navigation leader is kitted out with the essential equipment for keeping you safe in the mountains.
We believe everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy the spectacular valleys, summits and lakes of this World Heritage site therefore we keep our prices down and will continue to provide free and affordable experiences for everyone. So we need help to support our volunteer led programme so we can continue to do this in years to come.
