Brown Howe car park is on the A5084, on the west side of Coniston Water, between Torver and Greenodd. It is next to the lake southeast of Thrang Crag Wood - see the map below for the exact position. Non powered craft may be launched from the car park. Please do not park in the private car park for Brown Howe House.

Ladies; Gents and Disabled Toilets. Baby-changing facilities. Wheelchair and buggy-friendly access to lakeshore. Picnic area.

Walks are available from here to Blawith Fells and Beacon Tarn.

Coniston Village

This car park is in the centre of Coniston Village, just off the Coniston to Hawkshead road. It provides access to shops, cafes and pubs as well as walking routes on the Coniston fells and Coppermines Valley. Coniston Water is around a 15 minute walk from this car park.

Coniston Old Station

This car park is above the village and is on the site of the long dismantled Coniston Railway station. This car park is ideal for those wishing to walk the Coniston Fells or ascend to the summit of the “Old Man” as it lies at the foot of the Walner Scar road, a popular access point to the fells. It is also possible to walk to Torver along the line of the railway from here.

Monk Coniston

Monk Coniston car park is on the shore of Coniston Water at the head of the lake at the northern end. It is possible to launch small, non powered craft from this location.

Walks from here include a short walk along the side of the lake. There are also walks to Monk Coniston gardens and Tarn Hows. It is also possible to reach Brantwood and Grizedale Forrest. Coniston launch calls at the nearby pier.
