Car parks

Our car parks

We manage car parks around the National Park, as do the National Trust and local councils. There are also free smaller car parks in more remote areas.

Please park responsibly, within marked bays if they exist, keeping away from verges and leaving enough room for manoeuvre.

Car park locations and charges

Charges are displayed at the car parks and on this website. Just click on the location for more details:

Number plate recognition cameras

These are being installed in our car parks. Signs in each car park explain strict and timed enforcement procedures are in place.

Please make sure you read the signs next to the ticket machines and buy the appropriate ticket. You will need to enter your full vehicle registration number. The charges apply to all users without exception.

Blue badge holder spaces for disabled users

All car parks have blue badge holder spaces - please display your blue badge. Our charges apply to all vehicles, including blue badge holders. However we do allow an extra hour for blue badge holders. In order to qualify, please fill in the form below:

Blue Badge Parking Exemption Permit (Word document)

Car Parking Annual Permit

Annual permits and season tickets are also available. You can find out more details on our Car Parking Annual Permit page.

How to appeal against a parking penalty

To appeal to the Lake District National Park Authority, please email parking@lakedistrict.gov.uk

Where does the money go?

All car park charges go towards keeping the National Park special for the future.
