LDF Supporting research and evidence

Local Development Framework

We need to create a Local Development Framework which is based on accurate research and clear evidence.

When we adopt any document in the LDF, an independent planning inspector considers all the research and evidence behind our proposals to test if they are sound. The inspector also uses the information to guide the discussions at an examination in public, if one is necessary.

Specialist research studies

We undertake research ourselves or commission specialist consultants. Some research is statutory and must be completed as part of the LDF process. Other studies analyse unique local elements - such as housing need. We also work in partnership to share resources and make sure our research fits with research outside the National Park. The following research studies have been completed or are underway:

National and regional policies or guidance provide us with evidence. We also gather it from other research studies and plans such as community plans.

The views of people who live, work or visit the National Park form a key part of the evidence which support the creation of the LDF. It is important for everyone to Have your say whether you support the ideas put forward, or have concerns. A balanced view is vital.
