Core Strategy examination and earlier stages

Key milestones

January 2010 - Submission of the Core Strategy for public examination

On 14 January the Lake District National Park Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State. The soundness of the document was tested through a public examination led by an independent Planning Inspector.

September 2010 - Core Strategy is found to be 'sound'

On 16 September we received the Inspector's final report. This concludes that the Core Strategy is 'sound' meaning it is justified, effection and consistent with national policy. This was subject to changes we drafted and submitted during the examination process.

October 2010 - Core Strategy adoption

On 20 October, the Authority is being asked to adopt the Core Strategy and Housing Provision Supplementary Planning Document. This will replace a large number ofJoint Structure Plan and Local Plan policies.

A summary of the new policies and a list of saved Local Plan and Joint Structure Plan policies are outlined in the Rough Guide to the Core Strategy (Word document)

Core Document List

The Core Document List (Word document) was used to provide a complete list of documents we referred to when producing the Core Strategy. The documents listed were referred to throughout the examination process. However this was a snapshot of documents at that time - October 2010 - so some web links may have since moved.
