Minerals Safeguarding Areas
MSAs are a new planning designation They will protect proven deposits of minerals which are, or may become of economic or conservation value in the future. However allocation doesn't guarantee permission to extract the minerals.
Public consultation on our preferred Minerals Safeguarding Areas is taking place 26 September - 30 November 2011.

Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment
These accompany the consultation documents and site assessments. They considers the social, economic, and environmental impacts of the shortlisted sites, and whether there are likely to be any significant effect on European protected sites and the Natura 2000 network:
