Leave car in layby and access the monument through the gate and up the grass slope. May require a strong pusher.

This is an access route to get views north across Derwentwater towards Skiddaw. Leave car in roadside layby, ensuring that gate is kept well clear for private access, and follow the tarmac track through the woods to The Warren, turn sharp right (signed footpath to Lodore) and follow a good surfaced path to the lake.
Great Wood Car Park, Derwentwater

Follow tarmaced road to the car park exit. Cross Borrowdale road and follow the good level path to the Lake. Superb views. The return route is rather steep.
