Catbells fells above Derwentwater

1. Around Derwentwater

Derwentwater

This lovely lake has many islands within its oval shape. It’s about three miles long. Ferries criss-cross its waters in the summer, or you can hire rowing boats or launches. To its west rise the fells of Cat Bells. To the east is Friar’s Crag, which juts out into the lake and is a fantastic viewpoint. And at the southern foot of the lake is the entrance to the beautiful Borrowdale valley.

Keswick

This town is the main hub of the northern lakes, packed with outdoor equipment shops and boutiques. It’s a short walk to the Theatre by the Lake and the banks of Derwentwater, just south of the town.

Seatoller

Nestled in the Borrowdale valley, this small village is the last stop before the steep Honister Pass. Also walkers head out from here towards the high fells of Great Gable.
