Proposed extensions to National Park boundary

Proposed Extensions to the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks

The North West has some of the finest landscapes in the country. Many of these are already protected as National Parks or Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. However there are other beautiful areas of countryside that are not currently protected.

Natural England, as the public body responsible for conserving and enhancing the natural environment in England, are currently considering whether some of these areas between the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks should be designated.

Have your say

Natural England are asking the public for comments on the proposals in a consultation running until 17 March.

A detailed description of the project including maps of the areas being considered, what designation means and how the designation process works can be found at www.lakestodaleslandscapes.org.uk (opens in new window). You can also fill in a consultation response online at this address or request a consultation pack.
