Background, particular interests and hobbies:

Formerly a teacher, head of department and co-ordinator of support to children with special educational needs. In last 10 years actively involved in local government and community improvement: Chairperson of Pennington Parish Council; Vice-Chair of Lowick Parish Council; representative of Parish Councils in low Furness on Ulverston and Low Furness Market Town Initiative Partnership Management Committee; parish clerk of Lowick Parish Council; Councillor SLDC (Independent) 2000-2008.

Trustee and Company Secretary of Resolve Mediation Service until early 2009. Now independent community member of Cumbria Youth Offending Panel.

Interests and skills lie in mediation, education, human psychology/therapy, scrutiny, community engagement and decision making. Leisure interests include various outdoor ‘adventure’ sports, Morris dancing and DIY.
