Background, particular interests and hobbies:

Educated Millom School. Junior journalist. Secretarial College. Nursing career from 1970 until 2005. Royal Air Force Flight Officer during that time. Entered politics in 2001. Until recently, chaired Ravenglass Coastal Partnership in a voluntary capacity. Has lived very close to the Lake District National Park for the last 45 years.

Married with one son and numerous step-grandchildren. Gardens open to the public at weekends and is pursuing environmental projects for the future.
