Business opportunities with a 'taste' of the outdoors
Five “cool” entrepreneurs are wanted to take up unique ventures in the Lake District, which offer a perfect business opportunity as the sun shines and temperatures soar in the national park.
Tenders are being sought from people wanting to operate ice cream franchises from national park authority car parks across the Lake District in: Brockhole, on the shores of Windermere; Langdale; Colton; Patterdale; and Scout Scar, just outside Kendal.
The national park authority already has five ice cream franchises and with the financial squeeze being put on local authorities the LDNPA wants to expand these operations to bring in more revenue to boost budget totals.
National Park Surveyor Charlotte Kimber urged would-be applicants to contact her quickly as she was hoping to allocate the franchises soon enough to get the businesses up and running to take advantage of the summer season, which runs up until the end of November.
“Anyone can apply for these licences. We want people who will be dedicated to the sites and will want to provide a service to the public. This could be a winning recipe for everyone!
“It’s a great business opportunity for the entrepreneurs, a way for the national park authority to get some valuable extra income and it gives our visitors the chance to enjoy a refreshing ice cream while they’re out enjoying the mountains and lakes during this great summer,” she added.
Anyone interest in applying for a franchise should contact Charlotte on 015394 40253 or charlotte.kimber@lakedistrict.gov.uk (opens in new window).
