The next few years will be critical for the place and organisation. We are looking for someone to help shape strategic thinking for the Authority on the National Park’s future and to help transform our ways of working to a programme and project management approach.
The Strategy and Partnership Service are a multidisciplinary team, leading the strategic thinking on the future of the national park, and developing programmes and projects to deliver the management plan for the National Park (http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/caringfor/lake-district-national-park-partnership/ldnppmanagementplan). We work with internal teams and external partners on a range of programmes and projects. Currently this includes work on World Heritage Site inscription, the natural and historic environment, transport, recreation and access and health and wellbeing.
We are seeking a passionate and motivated candidate to lead a team within the Strategy and Partnership Service and to lead the development and adoption of programme and project management governance and processes within the service and where appropriate, working with other LDNPA teams and partners. This will include programme and project planning, risk management, benefits tracking and support to individual Project Managers.
This is initially a 2 year fixed term appointment. Secondments from organisations part of the Lake District National Park Partnership (http://www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/caringfor/lake-district-national-park-partnership) will be considered.
You will bring fresh thinking with the tenacity to translate new ideas and ways of working into a practical programmes and projects that can be delivered on the ground. You will enjoy working with and motivating a team. You will be a strong project and programme manager, with experience of operating within an environment to ensure resources are prioritised, projects are on time and on budget and customers are happy. You will thrive on supporting your team and colleagues to further develop our move towards programme and project based working, further enhancing skills and approaches across the team. You will have an understanding of the policy context within which we operate and contribute to the development of new strategy and policy projects.
