Hours: Part Time
Location: Brockhole Visitor Centre, Windermere
We are reinventing our catering operation at Brockhole on Windermere. Do you want to be part of this transformation?
With an existing visitor base of over 300,000 per annum, we are looking for a Catering Supervisor to assist in the running of three catering outlets at the beautiful lakeshore Brockhole on Windermere site. Brockhole is home to the Lake District National Park Visitor Centre and is now a World Heritage Visitor Centre.
You will be responsible for leading and motivating the team to achieve excellent standards in customer service, food quality and health & safety practices, whilst supervising their day to day activities, ultimately working to provide the customer with an experience to remember. The catering operation is fast paced that is open seven days a week. You will be responsible for overseeing the catering for corporate and private bookings and events.
You will deputise in the absence of the Catering Manager and therefore you will be responsible for managing a team ensuring they deliver a friendly and efficient service experience to a diverse range of customers.
You will need to have an NVQ3 or equivalent and demonstrable catering and hospitality experience. You also need to have a sound knowledge of Health & Safety/ Food hygiene issues connected with a café operation.
As a Catering Supervisor, you will have already gained some experience in leading and motivating a small team, and working in and organising a busy café. You will be highly motivated, with strong people management skills, along with the ability to problem solve and think on your feet. If you are enthusiastic and keen to develop, we would love you to join our front of house management team.
Your working week will be an average of 40 hours per week, 5 days over 7 including weekends and holiday working. The majority of hours will likely be worked during the summer months (April to October).
You will need to be a hard worker at Brockhole particularly during our busy periods, but there is not the usual very late finishes all year round that most catering staff are familiar with. Over the winter period (October –March) we will not be open in the evenings, allowing for earlier finishes, and in 2018 we will be closed for 3 days over the Christmas period, giving staff a rare opportunity to spend Christmas with their families and friends. Opening times will be reviewed for 2019. We can offer you a competitive salary and benefits package which will be discussed on application.
For an informal discussion and to find out more about the role, please contact Michael Vanheste, Catering Manager on telephone number 015394 46601.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applicants from all sectors of society. If you are an applicant with disabilities who meets the essential requirements of the job, we will interview you.
