Corporate Support Adviser

Behind the scenes with Sonya Frankland

Sonya Frankland

What do you do exactly?

I work on corporate projects, those that affect the organisation as a whole. A recent project has been our Joint Equality Scheme, this is where we set out the different things we will do to ensure that different types of people can use our services. I also organise training and development and collate evidence for Customer Service Excellence - an award that public sector organisations can apply for.

What's your background?

I have worked for local authorities for 10 years and was chuffed to bits to get a job with the National Park.

What's been your greatest achievement so far?

I like doing things that make a difference and improve things. I was heavily involved in establishing a set of organisational values that staff created and they believe in. That was good!

What are the best parts of the job?

Working with people to change things for the better.

What are the worst parts of the job?

Getting frustrated sometimes when things take too much time!

What advice would you give to someone who would like to do this kind of job?

Planning and organising are really good skills to have.
