The Dan Gibson designed house at Brockhole is currently used as a visitor centre for the Lake District National Park Authority. It is a great place to eat, shop and play and find out more about the Lake District.
In 2011 we:
The house at Brockhole has great potential. It is situated on the main road between the tourist honeypots of Windermere and Ambleside, has lakeside access including a new jetty, ample parking and is set in an amazingly beautiful area with views of the hills.
We have been given approval by members of the Authority to go out to tender for a suitable partner to lease out the whole house as a hostel operation. We will also be seeking a catering operator to run the catering on site.
We have conducted a tender process to find the right partners for leasing the house. We are considering the options resulting from that tender. We should know more about the final outcome by April 2013.
