The Dan Gibson designed house at Brockhole is currently used as a visitor centre for the Lake District National Park Authority. It is a great place to eat, shop and play and find out more about the Lake District.
In 2011 we:
The house at Brockhole has great potential. It is situated on the main road between the tourist honeypots of Windermere and Ambleside, has lakeside access including a new jetty, ample parking and is set in an amazingly beautiful area with views of the hills.
We have been given approval by members of the Authority to go out to tender for a suitable partner to lease out the whole house as a hostel operation. However, despite a number of interested parties, no compliant tender was received. We will be going back out to tender at the beginning of 2014. We should be able to publish more details about the results of the second tender by April 2014.
