Save your energy costs and the planet

National Park residents in Windermere and Ambleside are being urged to take part in a South Lakeland campaign to help cut their energy bills and help reduce the effects of climate change at the same time.
From this week, expert advisers will be on hand to help residents of Windermere and Ambleside understand how energy efficient their home is. All householders will be offered a free home energy survey to show how they can take action to reduce energy bills, improve their home and cut carbon emissions too.
The Lake District National Park Authority is working with South Lakeland District Council, Cumbria Affordable Warmth Partnership, power company EON and Cosyseal Insulation Limited.
Residents who would like to book a free survey should telephone the South Lakeland District Council Contact Centre and leave their details. Cosyseal Insulation Limited will then contact the householder to arrange for one of their trained energy surveyors to call at the property to complete a whole house energy survey.
A report will be provided, to give the householder clear and helpful advice about the energy needs of their home as well as details about their eligibility for discounted or free insulation offers. The scheme is open to all South Lakeland residents that are homeowners or those who live in privately rented homes.
LDNPA climate change adviser Rebecca Willis said: “We are delighted to be backing this initiative, which will mean that local people can save money on fuel bills, as well as helping to tackle climate change through reducing carbon.
“I would encourage residents take advantage of this free energy survey and find out how they can make their home warmer, save money and make their home more energy efficient.”
To find out more, or to book a survey, Windermere and Ambleside residents should call the South Lakeland District Council Contact Centre on 0845 050 4434.
But all residents in the Lake District National Park can still take advantage of the Cumbria Warm Homes Programme, and receive advice and help. Those not living in South Lakeland should call 0800 328 8419 or go to www.cumbriawarmhomes.org.uk
