Background, particular interests and hobbies:
Vivenne was born in an RAF hospital and moved around with her father, a regular in the RAF, attending 18 schools in total. In 1951 she attended Somerville College, Oxford to study Modern History. She was married in the College Chapel in 1954, the year she gained her BA, subsequently MA and later, while her children were still young, researched the Clifford Family in the Middle Ages and gained a M.LiH from Lancaster. Vivienne went on to teach History, first in Carlisle at County High School for Girls and subsequently at the Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge before retiring in 1996. Vivienne is still Governor of the Lakes School.
Vivienne's interests are the Lake District - fell-walking, researching its history and exploring; Drama - visiting theatres, taking part on stage, backstage or front of house; Member of Grasmere Players Committee; Reading and Gardening and helping to keep the area, particularly Grasmere, vibrant and resilient.
