Formerly worked as a civil servant, health trust board member and charity trustee.. Now is a Helper in Patterdale store, member of Cumbria Probation Board, part time student at the University of Cumbria's Newton Rigg Campus. Voluntary work includes volunteering for National Trust, member of Cumbria Education Appeals Panels and Youth Offending Panels.

Main interests outside work are family , friends, outdoor activities, theatre and cinema.
