Designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2017, standing proud as the largest national park in England and with more than 18 million visitors every year, the Lake District National Park is loved all over the world.
We’re now looking for someone to help us peel back the accolades, beyond the highest fell tops and deepest lakes, and use storytelling to inspire people to connect with and care for this special place.
We’re seeking a PR professional to act as a corporate journalist and press officer, managing a range of stories, issues and content for internal and external audiences. Working as part of a team, you will support the briefing and liaison between media and key spokespeople, in addition to building and maintaining professional relationships with media and key online influencers. You’ll be confident in dealing with issues and balancing the competing demands of a press office and partner projects, whilst also relishing the opportunity to engage with residents and visitors through public consultations and events.
As a PR and Digital Media Officer, you’ll be working within the Communications team to produce objective-led, engaging, creative content that celebrates our culture and business for PR and digital media channels. You’ll be contributing to the effective management of social media accounts, blogs and other digital channels, ensuring they are inspiring, engaging and in line with current trends. You’ll be savvy with the latest insight, measurement and evaluation techniques and use these to help inform and shape campaigns.
The Lake District National Park Authority plays a unique role in balancing the needs of communities, visitors and businesses, alongside protecting the landscape and its cultural heritage. This creates a challenging, stimulating and exciting environment in which to tell our story.
In return, we’ll provide a friendly, welcoming Communications team within an innovative, forward thinking and commercially aware organisation. Oh, and awesome, inspirational landscapes too.
For an informal chat about the role please call Sarah Calderbank, Lake District National Park PR & Communications Manager on 01539 724555.
The final closing date for applications is 22 June 2018 at noon, however if a suitable candidate is found before this date we reserve the right to close early. Interview date to be confirmed.
We are committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applicants from all sectors of society. If you are an applicant with disabilities who meets the essential requirements of the job, we will interview you.
